Rouse Elementary School Reviews

It was a long process to get my child qualified and approved for an IEP plan. Her kindergarten teachers were not adept on how to handle ADHD and learning disabled students. She had a great first grade teacher who encouraged my daughter to succeed academically and socially. She is now in second grade and is not having the same level of academic and social involvement. If she doesn't know how to do her work in class, she is told she can do it in her special class later and to read a book while everyone else is working. Her grades on her report cards reflect that she is performing exceptionally well. However, at home she struggles with understanding basic concepts which were already taught in class throughout the year. I question how much she is independently doing, understanding and retaining through the chosen teaching methods.

First year here. Open house was excellent. Classes were clean, organized and creative. Class size is on the high side, but special attention is given to each child. Music & library are great. Parents are given announcements via email and paperwork. More info is needed about PTO and from the classroom mom. Office staff is wonderful and actually start to know you by name. The bus driver is very nice and on time. The carpool line is quite long, but very structured and safe. Open communication between teacher and parent is encouraged. Child says 'playground is cool!' I would recommend this school due to the location, newness of school, teachers and quality of learning.

We enrolled our son in Rouse last fall. Overall we were satisfied with Kelli Adcock (Principal)and the teacher my son was assigned; however we felt the school system in general was behind slightly academically. Also, it took our son a while to adjust to what time classes began, 7:25am was 35 minutes earlier than he was previous accustomed. I do not want to come accross only providing negatives about Rouse, as we met many new parents and felt the teachers did a very good job with what they had to work with. (I think those of us in Ms all know how far we have come academically, but we still have many mountains to cross to get off the bottom standards).

We are in our first year at Rouse with our daughter in Kindergarten. We love the school, teachers, administration, and the PTO. Our daughter has excelled beyond our imagination with reading and math at the Kindergarten level. I have compared the work that she is doing with several websites and found that she is performing above her present grade level and half-way through the first grade level in math. Thank you Rouse!

The teachers and staff at Rouse Elementary have truely been a blessing to our sons. With their perfect blend of love and discipline, both of our boys have become more independent and self-confident.

We moved here from another state where there seemed to be more of a premium on challenging the kids to learn new concepts. Although the teachers here are extremely friendly and courtious, I don't believe that they have the necessary direction to accomplish anything but the absolute basics. Our daughter is bringing home work that she had previously done in kindergarten in her last school. I believe, after numerous memos from the school, that the only goal that they are wanting to achieve is to get the kids prepared to pass the standardized tests. They do not have art class, phys. ed., music, language, etc. They are not preparing our daughters to excel at the next level. Our daughter isn't allowed on a field trip b/c I won't sign a release absolving the school from responsibility even after I told the principal she is being hit/pushed in class already.

A good word to describe Rouse Elementary is 'positive.' My oldest child is in his second year at Rouse. He is a first grader this year and he loves it! His kindergarten and first grade teachers have well exceeded my expectations. He has enjoyed learning new things and making new friends. I am very pleased with the leadership, teacher quality, available activities and overall quality of Rouse. I am looking forward to my two younger children attending Rouse in the near future. I believe that the teachers are helping my older child to build an excellent foundation for his future school years. I am confident that my two younger children will receive the same quality of education when they attend Rouse Elementary.

Rouse is an excellent school with excellent teachers. We are in our third year with our second son there. Fortunatly, we can afford to send our boys to a private school but Brandon Schools are top notch and we have seen no reason to do so.

This is our second year at Rouse and we love it! We have been blessed with some great teachers. I don't think you can get a bad teacher here. There are 1068 students hundreds more than the published number on this website.
